3/14/2011 A tragedy abroad The Market Doctor team would like to extend the great economic center of Japan a speedy recovery from the tragic events that have occurred over the past few days. For sensitivity purposes we will not go into any in-depth analysis on market impacts or economic scenarios, however it should be mentioned that given significant uncertainty as to whether the situation is on-going or not and the extent to on-going negative repercussions, the market reaction should no doubt be negative for Japanese equities with peripheral, spillover affects on the US equity market as well. The positive “rebuilding” of the Japan region scenario will most likely not counterbalance the negatives over the short run (e.g next couple of trading days). Again, we wish a return to a stable scenario for all those individuals involved.
